Linganore boys soccer beats Frederick 3-1 behind set-piece success
Charlie Glassman scored twice and Taylor Rosario added a penalty kick as unbeaten Linganore used its set pieces to hold off a strong Frederick second-half push.

Linganore boys soccer keeps finding ways to make set pieces count.
The Lancers used two goals from senior Charlie Glassman and a penalty kick from sophomore Taylor Rosario to defeat Frederick 3-1 and remain unbeaten.
Rosario opened the scoring in the 20th minute after being taken down in the box.
He converted the penalty kick to give Linganore an early lead.
Glassman made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute after cleaning up a loose ball that had struck the crossbar.
Frederick came out much more aggressively after halftime.
Senior midfielder Modou Ngum cut the deficit to 2-1 with a 49th-minute goal, and the Cadets continued pushing for the equalizer.
The closest moment came in the 67th minute.
A misplay in the Linganore box gave Frederick a clean look at goal, but sophomore defender Braden Tarleton slid across the goal line and cleared the ball before the Cadets could tie the match.
That defensive stop proved crucial.
Glassman later stepped to a free kick from roughly 30 yards and drove a low shot through Frederick’s wall and into the corner of the net for the insurance goal.
The victory moved Linganore to 4-0-1.
It was also the fourth straight match in which the Lancers scored three goals.
Frederick fell to 3-3.
While the Cadets’ second-half pressure created problems, Linganore’s ability to capitalize on set pieces and produce a key goal-line defensive stop ultimately separated the teams.
WHAT IT MEANS
Linganore’s unbeaten start is being fueled by two things: dangerous set pieces and improved defensive resilience.
The Lancers were pushed hard by Frederick in the second half, but they survived the pressure and found another decisive moment when Glassman delivered from long range.
Frederick showed it can create chances against one of the county’s strongest teams, but Linganore was more efficient when the biggest opportunities arrived.
