Frederick falls 35-6 to Guilford Park in season opener
The Cadets opened the 2026 season with a home loss as Guilford Park leaned on a dominant rushing performance from Tyler Lee and a strong defensive effort.

Frederick lost 35-6 to Guilford Park. Tyler Lee rushed for 174 yards and three touchdowns. Lee averaged 8.3 yards per carry. Guilford Park recorded three sacks. The Panthers improved to 1-0. Frederick High School opened its 2026 football season with a tough home loss, falling 35-6 to Guilford Park on Friday night.
Guilford Park entered the matchup as the higher-ranked team and quickly showed why, using a powerful ground game and consistent defensive pressure to control the game.
Running back Tyler Lee led the way for the Panthers, rushing for 174 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 8.3 yards per carry. The performance extended his streak to 13 consecutive games with at least 80 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Guilford Park’s defense also made life difficult for Frederick, finishing with three sacks and limiting the Cadets to just six points.
The win moved Guilford Park to 1-0 and extended the Panthers’ road winning streak to five games dating back to last season. Over that stretch, Guilford Park has averaged nearly 40 points per game.
For Frederick, the loss drops the Cadets to 0-1 as they turn their attention to the next matchup.
Frederick is scheduled to host Smyrna at 6 p.m. Thursday, giving the Cadets a chance to bounce back quickly at home.

WHAT IT MEANS
The opener showed that Frederick has work to do on both sides of the ball, particularly against teams that can control the line of scrimmage and generate explosive plays on the ground.
The good news for the Cadets is that they get an immediate chance to respond, with another home game coming up Thursday against Smyrna.
