Frederick County League of Women Voters plans forums and school outreach ahead of November election
The nonpartisan group is planning candidate forums, high-school outreach and voter education as Frederick County prepares for the Nov. 3 general election.
HERE'S WHAT WE KNOW
The general election is Nov. 3. Early voting in Frederick County runs Oct. 22–29. League volunteers plan to visit every county high school. Students will receive voter-registration and election-judge information. The League is producing a 2026 voter guide through VOTE411.org. Candidate forums are being scheduled for multiple local and federal races. Forums will be streamed and archived online.
The League of Women Voters of Frederick County is expanding its voter-education efforts ahead of the Nov. 3 general election, with candidate forums, high-school outreach and updated election information for local residents.
League volunteers plan to visit every Frederick County high school to distribute voting information and encourage eligible students to register and consider serving as election judges.
Maryland residents may register to vote at age 16, though they cannot vote in a general election until they are 18. Seventeen-year-olds may participate in a primary if they will turn 18 by the general election.
The school outreach is being conducted with the Frederick County Board of Elections and marks the third time the League has taken the effort into local high schools.
The organization is also producing a 2026 general-election voter guide through VOTE411.org. Early voting in Frederick County is scheduled for Oct. 22 through Oct. 29.
Candidate forums are planned for a variety of races, including the 6th Congressional District, Board of Education, County Council and other contests. The League says it will generally hold a two-candidate forum only if both candidates agree to participate.
The League’s official forum page confirms that events are being scheduled throughout the election season and that forums will be livestreamed and archived for later viewing.
The League is also planning a discussion on election-information accuracy at 2 p.m. Sept. 26 at the C. Burr Artz Public Library in downtown Frederick.
WHAT IT MEANS
The League’s effort gives Frederick County voters another source for nonpartisan election information as the November ballot approaches.
For younger residents, the high-school outreach also provides an early introduction to voter registration and election work before they become regular voters.
