Antisemitic graffiti found again at Walkersville High School
The sheriff’s office is investigating two incidents reported less than a week apart, and school administrators say the latest symbols were removed immediately.

HERE'S WHAT WE KNOW
Antisemitic graffiti was discovered in two Walkersville High bathrooms on Oct. 6. A message issued Oct. 12 reported additional symbols in the media center and Agricultural Science area; administrators said they were removed immediately. The sheriff’s office is investigating both incidents. The supplied report identifies no suspect or connection to incidents at other schools.
Walkersville High School is confronting a second reported incident of antisemitic graffiti in less than a week, with investigators examining symbols found in multiple areas of the campus.
The Frederick News-Post reports that antisemitic graffiti was first discovered in two school bathrooms on Oct. 6. A community message issued Monday, Oct. 12, described two additional antisemitic symbols, one in the media center and another in the Agricultural Science area.
Principal David Franceschina said the latest images were removed immediately after discovery and administrators began an investigation. The message did not identify the symbols or give a precise discovery time.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating both incidents. The agency told the newspaper it could not provide further details because the investigation remained open. Frederick County Public Schools also referred questions to the school’s community message.
Franceschina said expressions of hate have no place at Walkersville High and that any disciplinary action would follow the district’s code of conduct. No person responsible was identified in the supplied report.
The principal also said the school would continue supporting clubs that give diverse students a voice and celebrate different cultures. He encouraged students who see or hear concerning behavior to tell a teacher, administrator or another staff member.
The incidents follow other reports of antisemitic graffiti at county schools. The News-Post cited incidents at Urbana High in September and June of this year and June 2025, as well as New Market Middle in May 2026 and May 2025.
The supplied reporting does not establish a connection between those incidents and the ones at Walkersville. The immediate question remains who was responsible for the latest graffiti and what the ongoing investigations will establish.
WHAT IT MEANS
Repeated incidents raise concerns about whether students feel safe and welcome at school. Administrators have asked students to report concerning behavior, while the investigation must determine responsibility.
