Maryland runs for six touchdowns in 62-0 rout of Hampton
DeJuan Williams broke loose for a 94-yard touchdown as Maryland piled up 646 yards of offense in a dominant season-opening victory.

Maryland opened its football season with a dominant performance, rolling past Hampton 62-0 in College Park.
The Terrapins rushed for six touchdowns, highlighted by a 94-yard scoring run from DeJuan Williams in the first quarter. The run was the second-longest in Maryland history.
Williams and Iverson Howard each scored twice, while Harry Dalton III and Jianni Davis also found the end zone on the ground.
Maryland also got touchdown passes from Malik Washington and Cardell Williams. The Terps outgained Hampton 646-85 for the game.
Williams finished with 116 rushing yards on just three carries, while Maryland built a 34-0 halftime lead and never looked back.
WHAT IT MEANS
Maryland did exactly what a favorite is expected to do in a season opener: control the line of scrimmage, establish the run and overwhelm an overmatched opponent. The Terps now move forward with a strong offensive baseline and momentum.
