Frederick girls flag football rallies past Oakdale 37-19 to stay unbeaten
The Cadets trailed at halftime for the first time this season before exploding for 25 second-half points behind another huge performance from quarterback Da’Myra Wallace.

Frederick beat Oakdale 37-19. The Cadets improved to 4-0. Frederick trailed 13-12 at halftime, its first halftime deficit of the season. The Cadets scored 25 points in the second half. Da’Myra Wallace threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns. Wallace also rushed for a program-record 115 yards and another touchdown. Kyla Gales had 155 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Heaven Burris finished with 90 receiving yards and a touchdown. Rosie Henson added a touchdown reception. Rylie Huskey recorded a program-record 13 flag pulls. Summers Singletary and Burris each had an interception.
Frederick High’s girls flag football team faced its first real halftime test of the season Friday night — and responded with its biggest offensive surge of the game.
The Cadets trailed Oakdale 13-12 at halftime, marking the first time this season Frederick had gone into the break behind.
That changed quickly after halftime.
Frederick scored 25 second-half points and pulled away for a 37-19 victory at Cadet Stadium, improving to 4-0 and keeping its unbeaten start intact.
Senior quarterback Da’Myra Wallace was at the center of the comeback.
Wallace completed 16 of 26 passes for 309 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for a career-high and program-record 115 yards with another touchdown on the ground.
Her biggest connection through the air came with Kyla Gales, who finished with five catches for 155 yards and two touchdowns.
Heaven Burris added four receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown, while Rosie Henson caught four passes for 36 yards and another score. Burris also converted an extra-point reception.
Sophomore Rylie Huskey contributed a rushing touchdown and made an even bigger impact defensively.
Huskey finished with a program-record 13 flag pulls, helping Frederick slow Oakdale after halftime and turn the game in the Cadets’ favor.
The defense also created turnovers when Frederick needed them most.
Summers Singletary and Burris each recorded an interception as the Cadets limited Oakdale’s ability to answer the second-half scoring run.
The win continued a perfect start for Frederick and showed something different than the first three games: the Cadets can come from behind.
After trailing at halftime for the first time this season, Frederick responded with a dominant final two quarters and walked off the field still unbeaten.
WHAT IT MEANS
Frederick’s 4-0 start is becoming more impressive because the Cadets are showing they can win in different ways.
This time, Frederick had to respond after falling behind and struggling offensively in the first half. The second-half explosion showed the team can make adjustments, create big plays and get production from multiple players on both sides of the ball.
Wallace’s combination of passing and rushing also continues to make Frederick one of the most dangerous offenses in the area.
