Linganore’s Defense Leads the Way in 35–8 Flag Football Win Over Frederick
Elena Doyle throws four touchdown passes and Makenna Roberts catches four scores as the defending state champions improve to 7–1.

HERE'S WHAT WE KNOW
Linganore won 35–8 and improved to 7–1. Doyle completed 30 of 34 passes for 186 yards and four touchdowns. Roberts caught four touchdown passes, three from Doyle and one from Battaglia. The Lancers recorded six sacks and two fourth-quarter interceptions.
Linganore’s girls flag football team paired another disruptive defensive performance with an efficient passing attack Monday, defeating Frederick 35–8 at home.
The victory moved the defending Class 2A/1A state champions to 7–1. Through eight games, the Lancers have allowed just 35 points, according to The Frederick News-Post.
Senior rusher Lily Childers was involved in five of Linganore’s six sacks. In the secondary, Addison Dryman and Allyson Petrie each intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter, cutting off Frederick’s efforts to close the gap.
That defense has provided a foundation for an offense adjusting to new personnel after graduation losses. Junior Elena Doyle, who moved from the line to quarterback, completed 30 of 34 passes for 186 yards and four touchdowns.
Makenna Roberts caught three of Doyle’s touchdown passes and added a fourth scoring reception from backup quarterback Reagan Battaglia. Roberts finished with 19 catches for 102 yards.
Brooklyn Dommel contributed eight receptions for 50 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown, and added 27 rushing yards.
Linganore’s returning defensive experience has been central to its success. Roberts and Dommel handle cornerback duties, with Dryman and Petrie supporting them at safety. Head coach Brian Sweene credited the group with building on the foundation established during last season’s championship run.
Frederick broke the shutout early in the fourth quarter when senior quarterback Da’Myra Wallace connected with Summer Singletary on a 28-yard touchdown pass.
Wallace completed 13 passes for 179 yards. Kyla Gales led the Cadets with four receptions for 70 yards.
WHAT IT MEANS
The Lancers’ veteran defense continues to give their reworked offense room to develop. Holding Frederick to eight points extended a season in which Linganore has surrendered an average of fewer than five points per game.
