Hilton Garden Inn Frederick launches major renovation inspired by local history and landscape
The 143-room Hilton Garden Inn on Corporate Court is undergoing a property-wide renovation that will update guestrooms, dining, event spaces and outdoor areas, with completion expected in early spring 2027.

One of Frederick’s established hotels is getting a major makeover.
The Hilton Garden Inn Frederick, located at 7226 Corporate Court, has started a property-wide renovation that will update guestrooms, hallways, public spaces, dining areas, meeting facilities and outdoor gathering spaces. The project is expected to be completed in early spring 2027.
The hotel has 143 guestrooms and includes an on-site restaurant, indoor pool, fitness center and meeting facilities.
The property is owned by Roch Capital and managed by Newport Hospitality Group, which says it has managed the Frederick hotel since 2013. Newport described the project as a significant reinvestment in the property and in Frederick’s continued growth as both a business and leisure destination.
Design inspired by Frederick
Rather than giving the hotel a generic national-brand makeover, the renovation is being designed around Frederick itself.
ZDS Architecture & Interiors developed a concept called “Where Landscape and Community Converge.”
The design draws from Frederick’s surrounding farmland, wineries, greenspaces, historic architecture and arts community.
The concept is organized around three themes: cultivated landscape, historical framework, and local craft and expression.
Guestrooms will feature warmer wood tones, natural textures, heritage-inspired colors and artwork influenced by the surrounding landscape.
The design team also explored color palettes called “Harvested Ground” and “Layered Greenscape”, both intended to reflect the agricultural and natural character of the Frederick region.
Bathrooms are also scheduled for upgrades, including new wall treatments, solid surfaces, mirrors and brass fixtures.
Guestroom televisions will receive a new entertainment system with streaming capabilities that can connect with guests’ mobile devices.
New restaurant and bar experience
One of the most visible changes will involve the hotel’s food-and-beverage operation.
Plans call for a relocated and expanded bar, along with updated restaurant and bar menus.
The new program is expected to include specialty cocktails, wines and local craft beers, with the hotel hoping to create more of a connection between its dining experience and Frederick’s broader food and beverage scene.
The hotel already distinguishes itself locally by combining select-service lodging with a full restaurant and bar as well as significant meeting space.
Visit Frederick currently lists the property as having roughly 2,016 square feet of divisible banquet and meeting space.
Event and outdoor spaces also changing
The renovation will extend beyond hotel rooms and the restaurant.
Plans include upgraded meeting and event areas as well as improvements to outdoor spaces adjacent to the bar and lounge.
A new outdoor fire feature is planned for the hotel’s pre-function patio, creating additional space for receptions, cocktails, meals and social gatherings.
The exterior of the hotel will also be repainted as part of the renovation.
Hotel will remain open during construction
The Hilton Garden Inn will remain open while the renovation is underway.
Newport Hospitality Group says construction will be coordinated in an effort to minimize disruptions for guests.
The project comes as Frederick’s tourism and hospitality industry continues to grow.
According to information provided by the hotel, visitor spending in Frederick reached approximately $564 million in 2025, up 4.6% from the previous year.
Roch Capital and Newport Hospitality Group say the investment is intended to keep the property competitive as other hotels in the Frederick market also modernize.
The Hilton Garden Inn sits in the Westview corporate area near Interstate 270, Francis Scott Key Mall and several other hotels and restaurants. Downtown Frederick is approximately four miles away.
WHAT IT MEANS
This is more than a cosmetic room refresh.
The renovation touches nearly every part of the property and represents a significant investment in one of Frederick’s established hotels.
For guests, the most noticeable changes should be redesigned rooms, a larger restaurant and bar experience and improved gathering spaces. For the local hospitality market, the project is another sign that hotel operators expect Frederick’s business, tourism, wedding and event markets to continue growing.
What Happens Next
Renovation work will continue while the Hilton Garden Inn remains operational.
The full project is currently expected to be finished in early spring 2027, although individual renovated areas could become available before the entire transformation is complete.
