HERE'S WHAT WE KNOW

Oakdale enters 7–0 and visits Frederick, which is coming off a 23–20 win over Urbana. The supplied preview lists five public-school matchups at 6:30 p.m., with SJCP at noon Saturday and MSD at 5 p.m. Saturday. SJCP seeks a third straight win, while MSD hosts Quantico for homecoming, Senior Day and its regular-season finale.

Frederick’s upset of Urbana adds intrigue to its Week 8 matchup with undefeated Oakdale, which survived its own close call against Walkersville.

The Frederick News-Post’s preview lists five public-school games in the 6:30 p.m. slot, followed by two Saturday matchups. Records below are those entering the games.

Oakdale (7–0) at Frederick (3–4)

The Bears escaped Walkersville 25–23 after Dylan Ohm kicked a 25-yard field goal with two minutes remaining. Oakdale had to recover from its first deficits of the season, getting a second-half lift from senior running back Shemiah Hill and the rushing attack.

Frederick enters after beating Urbana 23–20. Jerome Binga blocked a fourth-quarter field goal, and Noah Flock’s 31-yard kick late in the third quarter supplied the eventual winning margin. The Cadets have lost their last four meetings with Oakdale.

Linganore (6–1) at Thomas Johnson (1–6)

The Lancers rebounded from their loss to Oakdale with a win over Middletown. Quarterback David Doy looked more mobile after an ankle injury, and running back Kai Sawi returned from a lower-leg injury.

Linganore seeks its 13th consecutive win over TJ. The Patriots have lost six straight since opening the season with a victory over Catoctin.

Tuscarora (3–4) at Urbana (4–3)

The Titans snapped a four-game losing streak by beating TJ 56–28. Urbana is trying to recover from its loss at Frederick and protect its position as the regular season winds down.

The Hawks have won the last 10 meetings with Tuscarora and lead the series 21–5.

Brunswick (0–7) at Walkersville (5–2)

Walkersville held a late lead at Oakdale before the Bears’ field goal and a turnover ended its upset bid. The Lions will try to turn that competitive performance into a win against Brunswick.

Walkersville has won six of the last seven meetings. The exception came in 2024, when the Railroaders rallied for a 27–26 victory.

Middletown (5–2) at Catoctin (0–7)

The Knights seek a rebound after losing to Linganore. Their only defeats this season have come against Linganore and Oakdale.

Catoctin is still looking for its first win. Middletown has won the last 10 meetings between the teams.

St. John’s Catholic Prep (3–5) at Bishop O’Connell (4–3) — Noon Saturday

SJCP’s 24–18 win over St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes gave the Vikings consecutive victories for the first time since October 2023. They now seek their first three-game winning streak since September 2019.

Bishop O’Connell is coming off a 62–27 loss to St. Mary’s Ryken and has dropped two of its last three.

Quantico (4–2) at Maryland School for the Deaf (7–1) — 5 p.m. Saturday

The Orioles return home after their first loss, a 20–6 defeat at Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. The Quantico game is homecoming, Senior Day and MSD’s regular-season finale before the Keystone State Football League eight-man playoffs.

MSD beat Quantico 58–16 last season.

WHAT IT MEANS
