Direct MARC Service Links Brunswick and Baltimore Without a Washington Transfer

Frederick County commuters have a new way to reach Baltimore by rail: a direct weekday MARC connection between Brunswick and Baltimore’s Camden Station.
Service began Monday, Sept. 28, according to the Maryland Transit Administration. The connection allows passengers to travel between the Brunswick and Camden lines without changing trains at Washington Union Station.
Morning Train 830 is scheduled to leave Brunswick at 6 a.m. and reach Baltimore Camden at 7:59 a.m. The evening return, Train 831, departs Baltimore at 5 p.m. and is scheduled to arrive in Brunswick at 7:05 p.m.
Point of Rocks is also served, giving western Frederick County riders a second local boarding option. MTA’s timetable lists its morning departure at 6:11 a.m.
Frederick Transit’s Meet-the-MARC shuttle connects Frederick and Point of Rocks for the new service, according to MTA. Riders using that connection should check the shuttle schedule alongside their train departure.
Previously, a MARC trip from Frederick County to Baltimore generally involved traveling to Washington and transferring. The new service removes that transfer, though whether it fits a particular commute depends on the rider’s work hours and travel to and from each station.
The launch provides one direct round trip on weekdays. Riders should check current MTA schedules, service alerts and fares before traveling, particularly when arranging a connecting bus or a time-sensitive arrival.
